This was the week I had expected to tell you about my strategy to bring my ancient computer, the Boolean Mk II, into Y2K compliance. Then I picked up today's Globe and learned that we had lost one of the giants of Canadian science, Dr. Gerhart Hertzberg. He was 94, a Nobel prize winner, and a gentleman.
